Innoviz Technologies has announced the general availability of InnovizSMART, a ready-to-deploy, automotive-grade LiDAR sensor aimed at smart infrastructure use cases. The solution is positioned for applications such as perimeter security, intelligent traffic management, robotics, aerial monitoring, and urban mobility systems. The sensor is available to order with short lead times and is entering high-capacity industrial production to support global deployments.
High-Performance Long-Range LiDAR With PoE and Rugged Design
InnovizSMART is designed to deliver long-range 3D detection up to 450 meters, enabling reliable identification and tracking of pedestrians and vehicles even at extended distances. The sensor generates a high-resolution 3D point cloud with uniform resolution across the field of view, ensuring consistent performance across wide intersections, corridors, and large monitored areas.
The device is engineered for outdoor infrastructure environments, with resilience to dust, debris, and temperature extremes. Power over Ethernet (PoE) support simplifies installation by allowing power and data transmission over standard Ethernet cabling, making it suitable for rapid deployment on existing poles, gantries, and traffic light infrastructure without complex electrical work. Conventional power supply options are also supported for flexible integration.
Privacy-Focused Spatial Sensing and Broad Application Scope
InnovizSMART is designed around a privacy-conscious sensing approach. By capturing spatial and geometric data without identifying personal characteristics, it supports safety and efficiency improvements in public spaces while aligning with modern privacy and data-protection expectations.
The sensor targets a wide range of use cases, including perimeter and facility security, smart intersections, traffic analytics, robotics navigation, and aerial or elevated monitoring platforms. Its off-the-shelf availability and automotive-grade design are intended to reduce deployment risk and accelerate rollout timelines for system integrators and municipalities.
An expanded version, InnovizSMARTer, is planned to further extend the smart infrastructure lineup. This variant is expected to integrate onboard edge computing capabilities based on NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, enabling more advanced local processing and analytics.
