NTT e-Drone Technology used Japan Drone 2026 to showcase its latest industrial drone portfolio, highlighting solutions for agriculture, surveying, public safety, disaster response, and defense applications. The biggest attraction at the company’s booth was the C100 multi mission drone, a platform developed by U.S. manufacturer PDW that combines cargo delivery, reconnaissance, and FPV drone deployment capabilities within a single aircraft.
C100 Multi Mission Drone
The C100 was designed as a dual use platform for both civilian and defense operations. One of its key features is the ability to carry two separate payloads simultaneously.
The front payload station supports optical and thermal imaging systems weighing between 300 and 800 grams, including cameras with up to 80x optical zoom and electro optical/infrared payloads with 40x zoom capability.
A second payload bay mounted beneath the center of the aircraft supports cargo delivery systems capable of carrying loads of up to 3 kg. Potential civilian applications include delivering emergency supplies, communications equipment, and satellite phones to hard to reach locations during disaster response operations.
The drone measures 1,630 × 1,650 × 360 mm and offers a maximum payload capacity of 4.54 kg. With four onboard batteries, the aircraft weighs 9.53 kg and can remain airborne for up to 30 minutes when carrying a full payload.
FPV Drone Carrier Capability
One of the most interesting configurations demonstrated for the C100 is its ability to serve as a carrier platform for FPV drones.
The larger aircraft can transport FPV systems closer to their operational area before deployment, extending their effective range and reducing battery consumption. The C100 can also operate as a communications relay, maintaining video and control links between operators and deployed FPV drones.
According to NTT e-Drone Technology, the company is exploring opportunities to introduce the platform to Japan’s defense sector, where demand for reconnaissance and tactical drone systems continues to grow.
Spirit Drone Built for Harsh Conditions
The company also presented the Spirit drone, a compact UAV featuring a distinctive cylindrical design intended to improve stability in challenging weather conditions.
Spirit is rated to operate in wind speeds of up to 18 m/s and carries an IP56 protection rating against dust and water. These capabilities make it suitable for infrastructure inspections, river monitoring, emergency response, and public safety missions.
The drone uses a modular architecture consisting of separate GPS, battery, core processing, and payload modules, simplifying maintenance and future upgrades.
NTT e-Drone Technology is currently working toward obtaining the certifications required for commercial deployment of the platform in Japan.
Agricultural and Surveying Solutions
In addition to defense and public safety platforms, NTT e-Drone Technology displayed several specialized industrial drones.
The BB102 is a variant equipped with a laser based wildlife deterrent system that projects randomized red and green laser patterns to discourage birds from entering agricultural areas. Following successful testing, the company is also evaluating its potential use for larger wildlife management applications.
The EC101 was exhibited with support for YellowScan LiDAR systems. Expanded compatibility with multiple LiDAR payloads signals the company’s intention to strengthen its position in the aerial surveying and mapping market.
Industry Analysis
The product lineup presented by NTT e-Drone Technology demonstrates how industrial drone manufacturers are increasingly focusing on multi role platforms rather than single purpose aircraft.
The C100 is particularly notable because it combines surveillance, cargo delivery, communications relay, and FPV deployment capabilities in a single system. This flexibility allows operators to adapt the platform to a wide range of missions without investing in multiple specialized aircraft.
At the same time, the company’s expansion into surveying, emergency response, and public safety applications reflects broader market demand for drones capable of delivering measurable operational value beyond traditional aerial imaging.
