Who operates it

  • Operated by the Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) of Argentina as part of the national geodetic infrastructure (POSGAR).

Availability & access

  • Free access to RINEX files through the official portal.
  • Real-time corrections provided by the RAMSAC-NTRIP service, also free of charge.

Coverage & scale

  • National network of more than 100 continuously operating reference stations.
  • Integrated into the South American Geocentric Reference System (SIRGAS) and aligned with the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF).

Typical use cases

  • Surveying, mapping, and engineering projects.
  • Scientific research and geodetic monitoring.
  • Maintenance and densification of Argentina’s national geodetic reference frame.

How it’s used in practice

  • Surveyors connect GNSS rovers to the RAMSAC-NTRIP caster for real-time RTK corrections.
  • Post-processing users download RINEX files for static and kinematic workflows.

Notes

The network has been active since the late 1990s and is continuously expanding and modernizing.
